Gregory L. Frost, born and raised in Newark, Ohio, graduated from Wittenberg University in 1971 and from Ohio Northern University Law School in 1974 with a Juris Doctor degree. While in law school he was staff member and editor of the Ohio Northern Law Review.
Admitted to practice law in Ohio in 1974, he served as an Assistant Licking County Prosecutor for 4 ½ years working in the juvenile, adult felony, civil, and appellate divisions. In addition to prosecuting juvenile and felony cases, including murder, he prepared appellate briefs and argued cases on appeal to the Fifth District Court of Appeals. During this period he also maintained a private practice in the law firm of Schaller, Frost, Hostetter & Campbell. As a private attorney, he represented the county school boards and township trustees and handled personal injury lawsuits, domestic relations matters, and small business issues.
Frost was appointed and then elected to the Licking County Municipal Court in 1983 where he served on the bench for seven years before being elected to the Licking County Common Pleas Court in 1990 and re-elected in 1996 and 2002. He served as judge of that court for thirteen years. Judge Frost is admitted to practice in Ohio, South Carolina, Federal District Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
On March 19, 2003, he was sworn in as Judge of The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He was recently honored as the first recipient of the Licking County Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
