Judge Stansbury has served on the Licking County Municipal Court since his appointment to the bench by Gov. Ted Strickland in July 2010. He was elected to a full, six-year term in November 2011 and re-elected in 2017.
Prior to his judicial service, Judge Stansbury was engaged in private practice in Licking County for eleven years with an emphasis on criminal law and consumer law issues.
Judge Stansbury graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993 and received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1996. He was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in May, 1999.
Judge Stansbury is a member of the Ohio Judicial Conference and the Ohio Association of Municipal and County Court Judges for which he serves on several committees. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Licking County Bar Association. He is also an inactive member of the Wisconsin State Bar Association, having passed the bar in 1996.
Judge Stansbury lives with his wife, Cathy, stepsons Alex and Josh James, and daughter, Catie, in Newark.
