About Magistrate Christopher Strefelt

Magistrate Strefelt moved to Licking County in 1994 after graduating from the University of Dayton School of Law, to take a position with the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office.  Magistrate Strefelt spent almost 8 years working in the Civil and Juvenile Divisions of the Prosecutor’s Office before moving to the Felony Division, where he spent almost 4 years prosecuting adult felony offenders.  During this time, Magistrate Strefelt became the primary prosecutor for the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force.  In 2006, after almost 12 years with the Prosecutor’s Office, Magistrate Strefelt took his current position with the Probate/Juvenile Division of the Common Pleas Court.  As a Magistrate for Judge Hoover, Magistrate Strefelt handles abuse, neglect, and dependency cases, unruly child cases, delinquency cases, probate matters, and runs Juvenile Traffic Court.

Outside of the courthouse, Magistrate Strefelt spends his time working with the youth of Licking County in various ways.  An Eagle Scout himself, Magistrate Strefelt has been a volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts of America since 2006, serving as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, merit badge counselor, and was a leader at the Licking District Cub Scout Day Camp at Camp Falling Rock for several years.  He has coached many youth soccer teams, basketball teams, and baseball teams, and is known to volunteer as a race official at cross country and track meets.  Magistrate Strefelt has served as a volunteer judge for several mock trials, and has been a guest speaker at many junior high and high school classes to help educate young people about the justice system.

Magistrate Strefelt lives in Reynoldsburg with his wife Kari Strefelt and their two sons, Michael and Thomas.
